Reference Publications
Collected documents from the Navy's wars, from the Revolution through
the Civil War, have been, or are being, published and are a valuable source
for information on the war service of Navy ships. Books describing and discussing
naval ship types and their evolution have appeared in the United States
and abroad; many of these have been issued by the Naval Institute Press.
All of these works can be searched out through libraries and obtained with
the help of union catalogs and the interlibrary loan system.
